Well, I’ve gone and done it now.
In a fit of overconfidence during the last couple of weeks, I loudly quit Facebook, launched a new Substack about prepping for disaster, committed to my writing group that I will finish the first draft of The Neverending Memoir by March, and announced to everyone I know (and now you) that I plan to apply for a major journalism fellowship for which I feel woefully under-qualified.
Why can’t I keep my big mouth shut?
I keep asking myself that question. Let’s just call it a need for accountability. That sounds better than a more likely need for attention. Anyway, I’ve gone and told everybody, now it’s time to put up or shut up.
Stay tuned.
Oh, and Happy New Year.
Also, I just committed to trying to become a better cook this year. Should be interesting.
Happy new year. One eats an elephant one bite at a time.
